As we turn the corner to 2020, we’re taking a look back. The past ten years have brought countless transformations, milestones, and accomplishments, both professionally for La Pomponnee and Mec as a brand and personally for our team members. Before we say goodbye to 2019, we’re celebrating the last decade and sharing some of our favorite memories!
New name, who dis? We went from being La Pomponnee Salon and Spa to La Pomponnee Beauty Artisans. To go along with our new name, we also got a fresh logo, shiny new signage, and an updated website too!
The men’s division of our barber spa got an overhaul to become more of a traditional barber shop. Hence, Mec Modern Barbering was born. This past year, we gave Mec it’s very own spot at our Waterdam location!
Both locations got a facelift, including a new front desk! Check out the before and after!
It was wheels up for La Pomponnee! We launched our Beaute Mobile, an RV that we converted into a mobile styling station that travels to events and private parties offering mini spa treatments, hair styling, makeup application, and more!
Heather Tabacchi Photography and La Pomponnee partnered to open a studio space in the South Side. There, we do the hair and makeup while Heather takes the glamorous photos. Team work makes the dream work!
This decade we celebrated so many incredible staff milestones! Eight team members hit their 20-year (!!!) mark while 15 toasted to 10 years with us. We traveled to Mexico a whopping seven times to celebrate and our 20th anniversary trip was the largest group yet!
We never stopped learning! From Chicago to New York to Nashville to Washington D.C., our stylists attended beauty shows and trainings around the country. Our salons also hosted amazing guest educators throughout the years. We pride ourselves on delivering the latest trends and techniques to our clients!
In 2018, La Pomponnee was voted Best Spa in Pittsburgh Magazine’s Best of the ‘Burgh readers’ poll. Thank you again to everyone who voted for us!
We hit the runways! Members of our team did the hair and makeup for Pittsburgh Fashion Week and several times at New York Fashion Week. We also styled the models at Lex & Lynne’s Bridal Event, here in Pittsburgh.
We gave back and hosted a fashion fundraiser for Dress for Success in honor of our 25th anniversary and a Spa-A-Thon for the City Mission. We also donated hair and makeup services to One Day to Remember.
Our work was published in both the digital version of Vogue and the print version of British Vogue.
We were lucky enough to work with 262 brides on one the most important days of their lives. We hope each and every one of you are enjoying a lifetime of love and happiness.
From a Great Gatsby themed affair to a Parisian inspired picnic to this year’s La Pompo-chella music festival and food truck round-up, we love celebrating our team each year. It’s a great time to get together outside the salon, toast to our teammates, and kick back and relax a little. We’re already hard at work planning 2020’s event! Any guesses what the theme will be?
Marriages & Growing Families
You know we love a good wedding around here and the 2010s allowed us to celebrate 11 of them, including that of owner Kristen.
Eleven must be a magical number because we also welcomed 11 new members to the La Pomponnee family, including the most recent new addition, Bo, Tiffany’s son.
We said goodbye to both Pam and Elham. Here is a snap of Elham from opening day of the salon back in 1992, and then another the day of her retirement almost 26 years later. We hope you’re both enjoying the rest and relaxation you deserve!
Whew, what a decade it’s been! Looking ahead, our goal is to remain focused on being a salon that serves its community and provides a place to get glam, relax, and visit with friends. Bring on the 2020s! We’re ready for ya!
