They say that Rome wasn’t built in a day. We think that a beautiful bride wasn’t built in one either. After you get engaged, you’ll spend months, a full year, or even longer planning your big day. Why wouldn’t you put the same thought and energy into looking your absolute best on the one day in your life when you’ll be photographed the most? Forget just getting your hair and makeup done that morning. The wedding day prep starts LONG before that! Here’s the ultimate bridal beauty timeline to take you from “Yes!” to “I do!”
1 Year Before Wedding (and every 6 – 8 weeks after that)
Visit your hairdresser.
Regular trims are a girl’s best friend. Yes, even if you’re trying to let your hair grow out for the wedding! Visiting your stylist every 6 – 8 weeks will keep your locks healthy and in tip top shape…which gives them crazy strong growing powers! Schedule regular visits from now until the big day so you don’t miss a beat!
6 – 9 Months Before Wedding (and every month after that)
Visit your esthetician.
Whether you were blessed with flawless skin or you’re trying to get it to behave, every bride to be should have a monthly standing appointment with a skincare expert. They’ll be able to recommend a regimen of facials, peels, or other procedures that will give you that bridal glow you’ve always dreamed of.
6 – 9 Months Before Wedding
Determine your best brow look.
Starting almost a full year before the wedding, visit your favorite brow artist. He or she will help you decide what needs to happen for the best face-framing brows. This will allow enough time for brow tinting, letting your natural brows grow in a bit, or just to maintain a regular waxing schedule.
6 Months Before Wedding
Wax on, wax off.
If you’ve never gotten waxed before, now is the time to start. From brows to bikini to underarms to legs (and literally everything in between), you don’t want to wait until the week of the wedding to start waxing these areas. Begin at least six months prior to the wedding to prevent ingrown hairs and to allow your skin to acclimate.
Whenever You’re Stressed or Aren’t Sleeping
Get a massage.
Whenever the anxiety of wedding planning starts to get the best of you, schedule some time to decompress. Your body, mind, and spirit cannot handle all of that stress. Slow down, breath deep, and let a massage therapist rub out all of those knots, sore muscles, and hurting areas. We promise you’ll go from brideZILLA to brideCHILLA in no time flat!
Twice a Month Until the Wedding
Get your nails done.
Not only will bi-weekly manicures make you feel super pampered, they’ll get your nails in stellar shape for when all of your guests ask to see that new wedding ring! For the healthiest results, alternate between gel and traditional polish, doing one month on then one month off. Schedule your final nail appointment the week of the wedding so that they last all the way through your honeymoon! Because a post-wedding photo of your ring fingers side by side is an absolute must have!
Once a Month Until the Wedding
Get your feet done too!
Turn every other manicure appointment into a mani/pedi appointment. Not only will your feet thank you, but you’ll maintain the softest heels and nails up until that big walk down the aisle. The week of your wedding, be sure to schedule your last pedicure for big day ready toes that will get you through that newlywed vacation too!
8 Weeks Before the Wedding
Get a final trim.
We’ll repeat this – yes, even if you’re trying to grow your hair out for the wedding! Healthy hair is happy hair and healthy hair is freshly trimmed hair. Plus, texturized ends are a required ingredient for any updo!
2 Weeks Before Wedding
Get your color done.
Whether you’re a highlight, balayage, or all-over color kind of girl, be sure to schedule a touch up two weeks before your wedding. Notice we said touch up! Now is NOT the time to be trying something new! A little freshening up to the color is all is takes for red carpet ready locks!
1 Week Before Wedding
Deep condition your hair.
For hair that shines as bright as your photographer’s flash, do a deep condition one week before your wedding. Your guests will need their sunglasses just to check out your do ;)
